Yes they do. Just remember to do your research.
Pit-bulls are one of the most high maintaince dogs in the world. They need tons of attention, training, and love. Socialize them and they will be great.
Do the research. If it doesn’t sound right, there are always other breeds.

Some rescue groups will only adopt to people who sign up for a training class. They need to have a vet reference and demonstrate that they will be coachable about the situation. It really depends on the dog.
This may seem over the top but an animal rescue group has got the interests of the dog in mind, and if that’s inconvenient to the potential adopters, then they don’t get the dog.

The major concern of most people is that the owner will not handle the Pit Bull properly and it will attack someone, adding to the breed’s already terrible reputation and getting the dog put to sleep. If the owner is responsible though, there’s no reason why not.

Breeders may or may not.

Most shelters in northern Illinois will not adopt a pit bull or pit mix to a first time dog owner.

If you seem responsible I dont see why not. You will have to provide references and such. One or both may want to check out the home and yard. Me personally? No I would not. APBT’s are not for first time owners. Sorry.

Absolutely. First time owners or not…….a knowledge of the breed is what’s really important (and the dedication to properly socialize the dog, as well).
