How much horse breeders make

I am doing a business plan for my Equine Business class and I don’t know how to make a balance sheet. How do breeders make money when that is all they do? I am planning on showing the month of April when it’s breeding season, and then I need a worst case scenario and I think I will do that for the month of September and not sell any weanlings.

Furthermore they have stud farms where they have both horses and mares of high quality.. known to have won races. These horses have been carefuly bred by selective mating to obtain really good horses. And in my experience, most people who work in a shelter or rescue (and more than half of my friends are in this field) would prefer to adopt.

Can somebody help me with this?

A lot of horse breeders also offer training and boarding. Is there any way you can add that to your plan? Otherwise, you just have to charge enough during the breeding season to cover your costs throughout the year and still make a profit.

breeders make money from stud fees when other people want to breed to their studs, many breeders sell their weanlings or yearlings, it is hard for a farm to breed and never sell anything, that is how they make the money

A lot of horse breeders are basically well off to start with. To make a million on horses one has to start with five million. The big name people usually have oil or gas in their background.

well if they have a stud (horse) they let it out allowing it to mate with the mare of the customer and they charge money for it. Furthermore they have stud farms where they have both horses and mares of high quality.. known to have won races. Note:Ones that pay tons of money for a short time are mostly scams. Think about it. How do they get so much money to provide the website and paying users.
